Department of History

Introduction

1944 – 45. Department of History was established at this institution looking into the aspirations of the learners. Bagalkot is the district of great historical importance where there are various historical monuments and inscriptions of Chalukya Dynasty. Badami has world famous rock caves carved in 6th century A.D., by Chalukya king Mangalesh. The historical temples of Aihole and Pattadakallu have found place in world heritage sites. These temples are found in Nagar, Vesar and Dravid styles. Such great and proud historical heritage of the district inspired the college to setup the department of history. UGC Sponsored two day National Level Seminar was organized on 4th and 5th August, 2017 with the topic of “Cultural Contribution of Rastrakuta” and Guest is International acclaimed historian Prof. S. Shettar, Former Chairman, I.C.H.R., New Delhi.
