Department of Political Science

Introduction

The department of Political Science was established in the academic year 1944-45 with the affiliation to Bombay University and Karnataka University later. The founder Principal of our college Dr. S.C. Nandimath realized the importance of the study of political Science in the democratic country & training the minds of young Students and administrators. The Great Scholors such as Prof. S.V.Kinagi and Prof. Pandit Laid Strong foundation and later noted teachers like Prof. G.M. Channappagol and Prof. N.B. Patil also added coloured quill to the department.

Presently the department is headed by Prof B.R. Patil.
Along with curricular activities the department organizes Seminars, Workshops, Guest Lectures, etc. and subject based quiz, elocation, debate competition.
The department has also started add-on certificate course on “Cyber Crime and Law” from the academic year 2017-18. Because the knowledge about computer, Smart Phone related criminal activities are inevitable in the present e-world.

The department has experienced faculty, who are always extend their helping hand to the students in preparing notes and solving their personal study related problems.
The Department as organized UGC Sponsored State Level Seminar on ‘Panchayati Rajya System in Karnataka’.
