Department of Sociology

Introduction

Department of Sociology was introduced in the year 1971-72. This subject offers Sociology as a one of the optional subject for B.A. degree programme. Sociological knowledge makes student sociable and community oriented and also competent in nation building. Department of Sociology takes necessary steps for teaching Life Skills, Personality Traits also it imparts the values which are inevitable to community life. It aims in creation of responsible & awakened citizens of human community.

Dr. S.S. Puranik (1971-78) and Prof. R.A. Kalyani (1978-2008) are responsible for positive progress of the department. Presently it is headed by Shri. M. M. Hiremath. The Dept. have two staff, which are qualified and competent. It has organized Two Day National Level Seminar, Sponsored with U.G.C. On ‘Govt. Schemes: Social Changes’ on 19^th & 20^th Sept. 2014.

Suggamad Professor and Chairman of Sociology and Social Work, STC College, Banahatti. Dr. R.A. Shashtrimath HOD of Sociology, MES College, Mudalagi. Dr. V.N. Dhanakshirur HOD of Sociology, S.M. Bhandari Arts College, Guledagudda. Dr. V.D. Kulkarni SNR Arts College, Bagalkot etc are visited to our Dept.
